Description
The acclaimed estate of Elie Jeune produces its 'house blend' from 40% Grenache with varying measures of Cinsault, Counoise, Mourvedre and Syrah. An indulgently rich Chateauneuf, it is made in the traditional style. Aged for at least a year in large foudres it is succulent, spicy and soft with notes of sweet cherry jam, plum and pepper. This dark and flavoursome ensemble exudes the aromas of Provence and can be enjoyed whilst young. Robert Parker's Wines of the Rhone Valley names it "one of the most forceful, alcoholic and distinctive wines of the appellation". Drink 2009 to 2014.
