Winemakers of Saumur claim to have discovered how to make sparkling wine independently of, and at around the same time as the Champenois. Either way, this is fine wine having won 52 Gold medals in the past 50 years! Made from 90% Chenin Blanc (always the mainstay of sparkling Loire wines) and 10% Chardonnay. The house of Bouvet Ladubay is controlled by quintessential Champagne producer Taitinger and is one of Saumur's finest. Crisp and fruity with an elegant nose and smooth, streaming bubbles. Makes a celebratory glass on its own and is excellent with smoked salmon canapes and shellfish.
