Description
There's mass-produced Rioja, and then there are real, hand-crafted wines like those made by Javier San Pedro at his vineyard in the premium Rioja district of Alavesa. Made only from fruit grown on his estate (unlike many of the larger brands) it is a prime example of authentic, characterful wine. Javier's vineyards are the highest in the whole region, and therefore the extended time needed to ripen imparts flavours and nuances particular to his wines. It has a lovely dark colour, a nose of red berries and damsons, and a palate without oak that bursts with bright flavours of black fruit and cherries. Javier, Mayor of Laguardia, is proud of his region and its winemaking traditions. His wine is his calling card.
