Top clarets and ports are incredibly expensive, and almost impossible to find. So when we heard about these small casks of 1945 Rivesaltes - a sweet, vin doux naturel - tucked away in a cool, dark cellar in the south of France, we leapt at the chance to buy it. Its colour is amber gold, its aromas and flavours reminiscent of rich fruit cake, nuts and candied peel. You'll no doubt wish to savour it on its own at the end of a meal, but also try it with blue cheeses or rich game pate"
