Picco d'Umbria winery was formerly known as CO.VI.O (cooperative) and more recently Cardeto winery. Today, the cooperative includes some 350 members, with more than 830 hectares of vineyards and produces some 5.5 million bottles of wine each year - mostly in stainless steel although the winery also specialises in a small production of red wine which is aged in barrel. When visiting the winery, situated in the foothills of the Umbrian hills, it appears to be a large commercial concern, which offers a wide ranging portfolio of wines. However the essence of the people behind these wines is one of dedication, quality and development. Orvieto Classico is Picco d'Umbria's signature wine.
