Description
This extraordinary wine came about more as a happy accident than by design. The Ibbotsons planted what they believed to be Pinot Noir, only to discover it was Pinot Gris. However, with its intensity and pungent white pepper character, it leaves most of its Italian cousins in the shade. To add complexity and enhance mouth feel a small portion was fermented in aged oak barrels and underwent malolactic fermentation. Winemakers tasting note: "The palate shows ripe pear along with a touch of breadcrust. This Pinot Gris has an excellent balance with a long, lingering finish."
