Description
This wine is from Bierzo in the north east of the province of Leon in the north west of spain. Bierzo is in the middle of the pilgrims road to Santiago de Compostela and it's red wines are really starting to turn heads on the international scene. This wine is made from the Mencia grape - long mistaken for Cabernet Franc - and is aged in american oak for 6 months. This gives the soft ripe full fruit aromatics and palate a little creamy body and smoky structure. All together a full bodied and fruity red with real character and panache. Bierzo is in the middle of the pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostela in Leon, north-western Spain. Its terroir produces uniquely refreshing and fragrant wines from the Mencia grape, which thrives on its granite and schist slopes. Flavium is an innovative family winery whose traditional oak-ageing adds creamy body and smoky structures to an already delicious palate of soft ripe fruits and typically mineral, sour cherry aromas. Press quotes; 'It is very, very nice. I really do urge you to try it' Simon Hoggart, Wine Spectator Robert Parker has awarded this wine an impressive 81/100 points
