From single vineyard in the picturesque village of San Mateus in the heart of Bairada. Situated on the gentle clay and argelis limestone soils. Alianca have had a contract with this supplier for 15 years. Many Portuguese, such as Filipa Pato, say that the best wines to come out of Barriada are the whites and that the quality grape variety to be used here is Bical, as the "quality of fruit (from the area) is amazing" says Frederico Gomez In order to keep this fruit the wine does not undergo malolactic - thus keeping its fresh acidity, but the flavours are developed through lees maturation and battonage
