"Certainly one of the more impressively constituted 2006s... 91-93 points" Robert Parker, Oct 2007 Jean-Paul Autard has run this 13 hectare family estate since the age of 17. For Jean-Paul, the perfect Chateauneuf-du-Pape must be "intense and potent on the one hand; elegant and refined on the other." Cuvee la Cote Ronde comes from a 2 hectare parcel of 75-100 year old Grenache and Syrah vines. An unusually high proportion of Syrah (50%) gives the wine an intensely perfumed nose of leather, spiced blackberry and black cherry fruits. The palate is firm and rich; an excellent candidate for ageing, but will drink relatively soon. Drink now to 2022.
