The claret spearheading this quarter's case is Château Lardit from the Côtes de Castillon. This opulent, oak-aged claret is predominantly Merlot based (80%) with the remainder an almost equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. 2003 was a scorching vintage that produced wonderfully intense wines with seriously fruity characters like Château Lardit. Elegant and stylish with ripe berry fruits, this is drinking well now but will continue to gain complexity over the next couple of years.
You can either choose a straight case of Château Lardit or if you prefer a little more variety the impressive mixed dozen will let you sample three additional clarets from the stunning 2005 vintage.
Château Lenormand 2005, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux
This superb vintage produced the Menguin family's most impressive claret to date. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it exhibits great character, fruit and finesse. Their strict adherence to low yields, hand-harvesting andexclusive use of new oak casks ensures wines of consistently high quality every year but in vintages like 2005, the standard is even higher.
Château Bernot 2005, Bordeaux Rouge
This is one of our most popular clarets, owing to its fruity and approachable style. Handcrafted from selected vineyard sites of Merlot (56%), Cabernet Sauvignon (39%) and Cabernet Franc (5%), it offers up juicy ripe hedgerow fruits.
Château Poitevin 2005, Cru Bourgeois Haut Médoc
A gold medal winner at Macon, this is a supple Cru Bourgeois made up of 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. Guillaume Poitevin combines traditional methods in the vineyards with the best of modern technology in the winery to produce impressive, modern but characterful wines.

Thereafter, every three months, we will set aside for you an exciting case of clarets. We will write to you a month in advance of dispatch with full details. The price will never exceed £120 plus £6.99 delivery. The straight case option will feature our latest, fine claret discovery and the mixed case will include three bottles of the 'Discovery Claret' plus three other quality clarets.
If, upon receiving your preview letter you decide not to take the case, simply let us know by phone or in writing. There is no obligation at all - 'take a break' as often as you like.
