| Rhone 2006 | | The 2006 vintage completes a trio of extraordinary harvests in the Rhône and reinforces the region's reputation for providing quality, consistency and great value. These special wines are available at these low prices only until the end of May, so now is the time to buy. 2006 will be remembered as an exceptional Rhône vintage. The Wine Spectator has called 2006 "easily the best vintage in recent history" for northern Rhône whites, where the reds too also excelled in producing deliciously approachable but ageworthy reds. The dramatic quality advances in the Southern Côtes du Rhône manifested themselves in 2006, so we have selected some vibrant, sumptuous villages-level wines that are not as far away in quality from the more esteemed Châteauneuf du Papes as the price gap would suggest. All in all, it is a vintage of consistently high quality across the region, characterised by very good levels of ripeness and concentration but with more finesse and balance than in 2005.Please note all prices exclude duty and vat, which will be payable when the wine arrives in the UK in either June or November 2008. |  |
