Chateau Roquebrune Lalande de Pomerol 2009
Lalande de Pomerol AOC< Back to previous page
A right bank Bordeaux with all the hallmarks of the great 2009 vintage
The Guinjard family, who own Château de Roquebrune, have been Bordeaux wine growers for 5 generations.
- This is a small estate – about 7 hectares – and everything is done by hand. The family lavish the wines with care and attention and as a result, the wines tend to punch above their weight
- This was especially true in the sensational 2009 vintage – lush, rich and hedonistic, it shows just how great this vintage really was
- The vineyards of Lalande de Pomerol neighbour those of Pomerol itself. Often keenly priced and similar in style to neighbouring Pomerol, the wines are worth seeking out
Tasting note: Ripe and generous blackberry fruits unfurl from the glass with a hint of liquorice and spice. The dense fruits return on the palate accompanied by an attractive savoury complexity. Delicious with roast duck, lamb or turkey.
