Girouette de Ch Pirenne 2004 1eres Cotes du Blaye

From vines with an average age of 30 years comes this Merlot-driven Cotes de Blaye, from Saint Genes de Blaye. 50% of this wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.From the excellent 2004 vintage, this wine has deep plum and damson fruit, smoky tobacco notes and a long, structured finish. Drink now to 2010.

Chateau Plaisance Cuvee Alix 2005 1er Cotes de Bordeaux

Located in Capian, this wine is from 20 year old vines and is a blend of 70% Merlot, 25% cab Sav and 5% Cab Franc. Partially fermented and aged in 50% new Barrels. Intense cassis and cigar box aromas are followed by a rich and complex palate.  From the exceptional 2005 vintage, this wine scored an impressive 87 points from Robert Parker. Drink now to 2012

Chapelle de Guerry 2003 Cote de Bourg

From the oldest estate in the Bourg, over 300 years old. This delicious wine is a fine example of the quality this area can produce. Made from old vines this is a blend of 50% Merlot, 20% Malbec and 15% of each of the Cabernets. The wine under goes extra skin maceration to increase structure and 50% is then matured in French oak vats. From the ultra ripe 2003 vintage, this is drinking perfectly now and for the next 3 years.
