Château Muret is located just a few kilometres down the road from the prestigious districts of Saint Estèphe and Pauillac, lying on classic Haut Médoc clay limestone soils. Yet despite a long history (it's been listed in one of the Bordeaux 'bibles', Cocks et Féret, since 1850) and fine reputation, it was in a sorry state when the Boufflerd family acquired it in 1985. Now they’ve nursed it back to its former glory, replanting vines and building a new winery. This 2014 is testament to their rigor. It displays an attractive bouquet of ripe fruits, with a palate that's rich and rounded. Roasted notes and a pleasant touch of vanilla give way to smooth tannins. Serve with roast meats or as the perfect partner to a selection of hard cheeses.
