Winemaker Guillaume Létang believes the secret to its success lies in the location of their vineyards. It’s made at Domaine Fayet, a small, family run estate in the village of Moussan, just a few miles inland from Narbonne and the Mediterranean Sea. The vineyards are surrounded by a stream, which not only helps irrigate the vines but also has a significant cooling influence.
It’s made from 100% Viognier, a grape made famous in the tiny, top-quality enclave of Condrieu in the Northern Rhône
Although winemakers all over the world have tried to emulate this style, few have come close and great value examples like this one are extremely rare
The 2018 vintage is bursting with classic Viognier characters of white peaches and apricots with hints of honey and white flowers
Tasting note: A rich and fleshy Viognier with notes of white peach and honey on the nose while the palate shows honeysuckle and apricot flavours. Ripe and refreshing with well-balanced acidity, it’s a perfect partner to grilled white meats or soft French cheeses.
