Château Cissac is an 18th century Château in the northern Haut-Médoc, close to the border with Pauillac and Saint- Estèphe. Its wines consistently rank among the very best wines from the region. The château is home to a long established family tradition of winemaking. Today the vineyards are managed by Marie Vialard, a direct descendant of Jacques Mondon who bought the estate in 1895, and Louis Vialard who restored it to its former glory in the mid 20th century.
“Owned by the Vialard family, this is a very fine wine.” 93pts, Wine Enthusiast
The soils are mainly sandy gravel on top of limestone, and in keeping with Médoc tradition the vineyards are predominantly planted with the traditional variety, Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with elegant Merlot and spicy Petit Verdot, producing wines that are particularly complex and expressive
Tasting note:Classic Left Bank in style, the 2014 has aromas of cassis and cedar with a silky finesse and a long, smooth finish. Drinking beautifully now but will cellar well over the next five years.
