Averys Fine Red Burgundy 2016

Bourgogne AOC

We only give a wine the Averys label when it really impresses. That's certainly true of this appealing, classic red Burgundy from Vincent Prunier. Lovely juicy fruit with silky, firm tannins, good body and weight - not entry level 'Bourgogne' at all.

We were so happy with last year’s Red Burgundy that we had no hesitation in going straight back to Vincent Prunier to ask him to blend the 2016 vintage. Vincent has long advocated ploughing his vineyards to encourage deeper roots which in turn enables vines to capture the 'terroir' of each site. 2016 was a delicious Burgundy vintage, albeit very small, so we were thrilled when Vincent agreed to the wine. Like the 2015, the grapes are sourced from across the Côte de Beaune and the wine matured in traditional oak barrels for 18 months. Classic crunchy cherry fruit aroma, with bright red fruits giving way to a little maturity and oak spice, with gentle tannins. Serve with roast chicken or pulled pork, seared tuna or mushroom risotto.

"Very good, and truly, unmistakeably burgundian. I can't recall a better Burgundy at the price" Online Review
