The 2012 Averys Fine Claret proved extremely popular and sold out before Christmas, so we headed back to Bordeaux to select the new vintage. After a rigorous tasting process, we decided to jump to the delicious 2015 vintage.
Normally, we’d simply move on to the next vintage but the 2015 was such a standout
year, we couldn’t wait any longer to bring you this wine
Like the 2012, it comes from hand-picked, old vine fruit grown by the Roche family at their estate close to the city of Bordeaux
A blend of classic Bordeaux grapes – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
Tasting note:Barrel-aged for 12 months, it combines the lush, ripe fruit of this exceptional vintage with cedary, fine oak. Rich and exuberant with a beautiful core of dark berries and plums, it’s so delicious now that it will be hard to squirrel away any in your cellar but you could happily age it for another 4-5 years.
Averys began in 1793 and over the years, the family has built its reputation as one of the UK's most pioneering wine merchants. Today, it is 5th generation Mimi Avery introducing a new generation of wine lovers to Averys. At the heart of what we do - and have done for over 220 years - is share our passion for wine. We love discovering wines with a story to tell – whether for everyday drinking or fine wines for the cellar. So, if you're looking for 'real' wines, full of character and flavour, then welcome to Averys.
