During the 1950s, Ronald Avery championed the wines of Saint Émilion and Pomerol at a time when they were virtually unknown outside France. Today, we still have strong relationships with winemakers across Bordeaux, which allows us to discover parcels such as this one. Averys Fine Saint Émilion is made exclusively for us by Bernard Bouladou and his daughter Laurianne at Château Graves du Rabion. Made mostly from Merlot, it’s a classically styled Saint Émilion with a deep ruby colour and aromas of bramble fruits, blueberries with a hint of tobacco. Plush and creamy, with ripe plum richness, a hint of spice and a silky texture. Drinking nicely now, especially when served with red meats, it will age for another 5 – 10 years. Ideally decant.
