This is a new discovery for us from Domaine de Père Caboche, an estate in the heart of the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It’s run by Jean-Pierre Boisson, former mayor of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Emilie Boisson, after whom this special cuvée is named.
“Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2016 red wines have a ‘remarkable density of ripe tannins’ and are, unsurprisingly, among the standard bearers for one of the best Southern Rhône vintages in recent memory” Decanter Magazine
2016 was a sensational vintage and what we love about this cuvée, is it’s very elegant for Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The Boisson family been winemakers in the village for generations and own some fantastic vineyards, including several hectares on the famous plateau of La Crau, Châteauneuf’s finest cru
Tasting note: Very powerful with intense dark fruits but the fruit is beautifully pure and balanced by a delicious freshness. Decant in advance and serve with roast lamb, game or ratatouille.
