In the sun-drenched vineyards of Southern Italy’s Salento region, Angelo Maci grows grapes the traditional way. Gnarled old vines grow like bushes close to the ground and produce tiny quantities of extremely rich, concentrated grapes.
From three times winner of Southern Italian Winery of the Year
Known as “Alberello Pugliese”, these vines are naturally low yielding and have to be worked by hand, so most growers have sadly ripped them out. Fortunately for us, Angelo and his team at the award-winning Cantine Due Palme are hugely passionate about Puglia’s heritage and are determined to preserve the region’s native grape varieties and ancient vines
Bush vines ensure this sumptuous Primitivo is deeply coloured with deliciously rich, dark fruit
Tasting note: Soft, juicy plums and wild berry fruit are enhanced by hints of chocolate covered raisins and spice. Big on flavour, it’s a great match for strong cheeses, rich pasta sauces and roast lamb.
