Located near the banks of the river Duero in Rueda, Bodegas Menade was set up in 2005 by the Sanz siblings, fifth generation of winegrowers and producers. At Menade, they use no chemical treatments opting instead for a natural approach of plant-based infusions (nettles, cinnamon…) or whey, which are kinder on the soil, plants and naturally occurring yeasts.
Winemaker Richard Sanz comes from an energetic and pioneering winemaking family that’s been active for some 200 years
You’ll often hear Verdejo compared to Sauvignon Blanc and certainly it shares a refreshing citrus zip together with riper, more tropical fruit notes
La Casa comes from high altitude vineyards in and around the Rueda region where the soil is pebbly and rich in clay and chalk
Tasting note: This fragrant and mineral imbued white wine abounds with vivid citric and lime-like zip but elements of green apple too, complemented by pleasing underlying herbal notes.
