Founded in 1989 by ex-RAF fighter pilot Bob Lindo and his wife, Annie, Camel Valley vineyard lies on the steep, sun-drenched slopes just above the river Camel in the heart of the Cornish countryside. The couple planted the first 7,000 vines by hand in the plot below the sheep barn which became the original winery. Today, second generation winemaker Sam Lindo is at the helm and has continued guiding the family to great success, winning a multitude of awards including World’s Best Sparkling Rosé at the International Wine Challenge.
In 2018 Camel Valley became the first English wine producer to be granted a royal warrant and is regularly served at royal functions
Co-founder Annie has pruned all 5,000 vines in her plot “Annie’s Vineyard” every winter, by hand, since they were first planted in 1989
This traditional method sparkling wine has spent a minimum of 18 months on its lees resulting in a fresh, bready character that retains its hedgerow freshness. The blend contains the traditional champagne varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with the addition of Seyval Blanc, a fresh, lemony variety that thrives in the English climate
Tasting note: Green apple and citrus aromas, rounded toasty palate with lovely fresh apple and brioche-like richness. A long, balanced finish.
