Described by top critic Robert Parker as "the finest red wine I have ever had from South Africa" on its debut vintage, this is classy stuff. A dense, dark blend of Syrah, Cabernet and spicy Petit Verdot, it is elegant, supple, yet lavish and rich.

This is a superb single-estate red from the premium vineyards of Stellenbosch. They lie just 7 kilometres from the coast in the premium district of Helderberg. The property was founded in the late 1990s by former owner of Klein Constantia Lowell Jooste and two top names from Bordeaux, Bruno Prats (former owner of Cos d'Estournel) and Hubert de Boüard (co-owner of Château Angélus) and immediately made a name for itself. It is now owned by the renowned Klein Constantia, with Jean du Plessis as winemaker. Aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels, this is a gorgeously rich and lavish red, deep in cassis, toasted mocha and dark chocolate notes. Open early and decant to reveal all its layers. A wine to serve with fine red meat or game dishes.
