With a winemaking heritage stretching back to 1531, the Mellot family have an excellent head start when it comes to producing great Sauvignon Blanc. Catherine Corbeau Mellot, wife of the late Alexandre Mellot, is currently at the helm, while her two sons, Adrien and Armand, finish their studies, so they can continue the family’s winemaking tradition. This estate makes great Sancerre, but they also specialise in other Central Loire appellations like Menetou Salon, just to the south. All Sauvignon Blanc, grown on classic limestone over kimmeridgian clay, the wine is very pure and fresh, with ripe mango and orchard fruits, and a tight seam of grassy minerality. A fine match with white fish dishes, carpaccio or goat’s cheese and pear salad.

"Fine Sauvignon with echoes of flinty, citrusy Sancerre. From just to the south, it's a touch riper" Jehan Sacaze
