Create a cellar of wines for fine dining occasions and special celebrations
Cellar Collection is a great way to capitalise on Averys’ long history as a fine wine merchant. Each collection includes six bottles of fine wine hand-picked by Mimi Avery. They may be limited parcels of mature wines, top-estate releases or exciting new finds from up-and-coming producers and as such the case price varies each quarter.
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2017 Marlborough
Cloudy Bay brought international fame to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and it’s still considered the region’s benchmark. The 2017 is on fine form with intense, pure fruit and crisp, minerally acidity. Enjoy its refreshing grapefruit and tropical fruit flavours with oysters or spicy king prawns.
Château de Chemilly Chablis 2016
Brothers Loic and Yannick Vilain have breathed new life into this small domaine in the south of Chablis. The 2016 has wonderful Chablis flinty minerality alongside refreshing citrus and melon flavours. It makes an excellent match for seafood or a lovely aperitif.
Lefebvre Cuvée Réserve Champagne Brut NV
This Champagne from the Cuperly family caught our attention after matching Veuve Cliquot and Perrier Joüet at the 2017 Champagne Masters competition. It’s strikingly crisp and fresh with ripe orchard fruits and refreshing citrus flavours balanced by a gentle creaminess.
Fratelli Urciuolo Taurasi Aglianico 2011
Aglianico produces some of Italy’s most exciting reds with arguably the best coming from the hills of Avellino in Campania, labelled ‘Taurasi’. This one spent two years in barrel, followed by extended ageing in bottle and has softened beautifully, revealing rich, dark fruits and earthy spice.
Castello Vicchiomaggio is a 13th century winery in the heart of Chianti Classico owned and run by John Matta, four times winner of Italian winemaker of the year. His Chianti Classico Riserva displays ripe cherry aromas with a palate of smooth red berries and a long, velvety finish.
Clarendelle Saint-Émilion 2014
This smart Saint-Émilion is made by the team at first growth Château Haut-Brion. “Aromas of blackberries, lemons and orange peel follow through to a medium body, firm and polished tannins and a fresh finish. A beauty.” 91 points, James Suckling.
