Unsi Terrazas Blanco 2017 Navarra
Unsi Terrazas is made entirely from the rarely seen Garnacha Blanca, once an important grape in Navarra but now almost extinct in the region. Aged on its lees in French oak for five months, there’s a touch of spice alongside refreshing citrus flavours. Winner of two gold medals.
Dr Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese 2017 Mosel
Ernst Loosen’s single vineyard Erdener Treppchen Riesling combines extraordinary concentration with bracing, crisp minerality. The vineyard is so steep that long ago steps were built into the hillside to help workers reach the vines – hence the name Erdener Treppchen or ‘Little Staircase of Erden.’
Domaine des Malandes Chablis 1er Cru Vau de Vey 2017
Vau de Vey is a 1er Cru located on a very steep slope with clay and limestone soils that give this its classic Chablis minerality. The recently released 2017 vintage has lovely purity with pristine orchard and citrus fruit, hints of vanilla and crisp mineral acidity to invigorate the palate.
Création d’Emilie Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2016
Made at Domaine de Père Caboche, an estate owned by the Boisson family, the delicious 2016 is elegant yet powerful. The Boissons have been winemakers in the village for generations and own some fantastic vineyards, including several hectares on the famous plateau of La Crau.
Château des Laurets 2015 Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion
Baron Benjamin de Rothschild acquired this property in 2008 and the family have spared no expense in transforming the estate’s wines and work closely with top wine consultant Michel Rolland. The 2015 is on exceptional form – “shapely and concentrated with mouthfilling textures” 91pts, Decanter.
Please note: Château des Laurets has now been replaced with Legende R Pauillac 2015.
Tamar Ridge Pinot Noir 2016 Tasmania
John Avery was an early supporter of Tasmanian wines and first tasted the wines of Tamar Ridge when judging at the Hobart Wine Show in 1999. We’ve been working with them ever since! Expect silky cranberry and raspberry fruit with gentle spicy oak and cool-climate elegance.
Averys began in 1793 and over the years, the family has built its reputation as one of the UK's most pioneering wine merchants. Today, it is 5th generation Mimi Avery introducing a new generation of wine lovers to Averys. At the heart of what we do - and have done for over 220 years - is share our passion for wine. We love discovering wines with a story to tell – whether for everyday drinking or fine wines for the cellar. So, if you're looking for 'real' wines, full of character and flavour, then welcome to Averys.
