Antinori is renowned for driving through a revolution in Tuscan winemaking in the 1970s. Its most famous estates are Sassicaia and Tignanello, the latter just 3km away from beautiful Badia a Passignano. This property has 65 hectares of vineyards in an outstanding part of Chianti Classico, with the winery based in the 1000 year old monastery, from which it takes its name. Its maze of underground cellars house the many barrels of ageing wine. Gran Selezione is made from their top flight Sangiovese grapes, all handpicked and the wine aged in Hungarian oak barrels. Opulent ripe fruit, underlined by taut freshness with fine silky tannins, this is a wine of great depth and intensity. Decant and serve with ragù or truffle and porcini tagliatelle.

"Full body. Dense and layered with ripe tannins, yet there’s vivid and energetic acidity. Top stuff" James Suckling
