Hush Heath Manor dates back to the 16th century, and since the 1980s has been the home of Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn. 16 of the estate’s 160 hectares have been planted with vines since 2002, and a winery was added in 2010. The vineyards are nurtured by the Turner family, talented viticulturalists who firmly believe in sustainability. They’ve planted hedgerows around each plot, which, combined with ancient oak woodlands, give Hush Heath its own microclimate, slightly warmer than the surrounding area – a big boon to ripening. Consultant winemaker is Owen Elias, six times ‘UK Winemaker of the Year’, who advises resident winemaker Victoria Ash. All the grapes are from the Springfield vineyard and the wine gently aged in barrel. Serve cool.
