Want a crisp rosé to bring back memories of southern Rhône warmth? Choose this! It's from Domaine de la Bastide, an ancient property formerly run by Benedictine monks and before that as a farm by Knights Templar. Second generation Vincent Boyer has plenty of artefacts to prove that, including ancient coins and a centuries old wine vat. The Boyer family bought it in 1989 and today second generation Vincent and his wife, Stephanie, run the estate. It lies in Visan, a cru villages that may add its name to its Côtes du Rhône Villages label. Vincent selects his prized Grenache (lovely ripe raspberry), with Syrah's bramble, pepper and liquorice notes and Cinsault. It's pure delight on its own or with prawn risotto, a herby frittata or noodles.
