Bodegas Castaño has been a leading winery in the Yecla region for generations. They combine tradition with a pioneering spirit to make some really exciting wines. They own 410 hectares of nearly all Monastrell, grown at high altitude. You can taste that height in the freshness of their wines. This dark, spiced red uses pure Monastrell grapes from their prized 40 year old bush vines – in the dry, arid soils of the region, only bush vines will survive. They also promote superb flavour intensity. A weighty, intricate wine with added complexity from oak ageing. With wild blackberry, plum, clove and cinnamon aromas, it's supremely smooth and lengthy. Supple enough to enjoy solo; supreme with slow cooked lamb shanks or an aubergine moussaka.

"Gloriously dark, spicy red from Yecla's Monastrell. Velvety too" Beth Willard
