Bodegas Castaño has been a leading winery in the Yecla region for generations. Combining tradition with a pioneering spirit, they make some really exciting wines. These are mostly using Monastrell, taken from their extensive, high-altitude vineyards. You can taste that height in the freshness of their wines. This dark, spiced red uses pure Monastrell from their prized 50+ year old bush vines – in the dry, arid soils of the region, only bush vines will survive. They also promote superb flavour intensity. This is a weighty red, with added complexity from six months in barrel. Wild blackberry, plum, clove and cinnamon, the wine is supremely smooth and lengthy. Supple enough to enjoy solo; supreme with slow-cooked lamb shanks or moussaka.
