Château de Bernadon may not lie in the fancy name regions of Bordeaux's Right Bank, nor in the Haut Médoc's top communes, but nonetheless it's a thoroughly appealing claret for drinking now and over the next few years. It's from the Entre-Deux-Mers and the 2017 vintage, described as, "all about finesse, perfume and aromatic intensity," attributes you'll detect in this wine. The majority of the grapes are ripe, plum filled Merlot, as you'd expect in this area of Bordeaux. A 40% portion of Cabernet Sauvignon lends deep colour, blackcurrant richness and structure, while a splash of Cabernet Franc brings leafy raspberry notes. Open early to let the wine breathe, then enjoy with grilled meats or pearl barley and mushroom risotto.
