We’ve long championed Bordeaux’s petits châteaux – wines from small-scale, family estates that don’t get the attention of the collectors. Outside of the famous names, most Bordeaux ‘châteaux’ (often family homes rather than grand châteaux!) are run by down-to earth families like fourth generation winemakers Nathalie and Bruno Ballet at Château Haut-Branda. This is from their delicious 2017 vintage – a year of elegant, supple reds that will appeal to those of you who enjoy classically-styled claret. Made mainly from Merlot and unoaked, it’s very soft and rounded with lots of fresh red berry fruit.
Averys began in 1793 and over the years, the family has built its reputation as one of the UK's most pioneering wine merchants. Today, it is 5th generation Mimi Avery introducing a new generation of wine lovers to Averys. At the heart of what we do - and have done for over 225 years - is share our passion for wine. We love discovering wines with a story to tell – whether for everyday drinking or fine wines for the cellar. So, if you're looking for 'real' wines, full of character and flavour, then welcome to Averys.
