Over 26 generations the Antinori family has built a reputation for producing some of the world’s finest wines. The current owner is Marchese Piero Antinori, who is famous for starting the Super Tuscan movement in the 1970s and spearheading a quality revolution in wine. And he has done the same in Umbria. His father purchased Castello della Sala in 1940, when the family turned their attention to white wine making. The first vintage of the great Cervaro was in 1985, with Bramìto launched in 1994. The grapes are from the estate’s younger Chardonnay vines, the juice part barrel fermented with malolactic to lend the wine a luscious creamy texture and flavour. Made by one of Italy’s most talented winemakers, Renzo Cotarella, this is a fine white.
