Bruno Giacosa is regarded as one of the finest winemakers of all time, not just in Italy, but across the world. He lived and breathed wine from the start, helping his father and grandfather in the cellar from 13 and full-time from 15. He learnt it all from them, rather than studying. One of the most important lessons was on choosing fruit, only the best, which was particularly important before he bought vineyards himself – not until 1982. With 17 hectares now in Barolo and Barbaresco's finest sites, he made wines until his death in 2018 that mesmirised the world. His daughter Bruna now continues this great legacy. The red label Riservas are very rarely released, but 2016 was a 5-star vintage. This magnificent Barolo Riserva needs time.

"Really dense red with intensity and beauty. Really complex and rich. Extremely long. Great finish" James Suckling
