We have a friendship with Remoissenet that stretches back over half a century and we are privileged to acquire small, limited parcels from their private cellars, the largest cellars of aged Burgundy in the world. Roland Remoissenet has now retired but Bernard Repolt, together with Pierre Rovani, former Burgundy editor at Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, and the brilliant Claudine Jobard, have transformed the quality at this famous old houseOccasionally Remoissenet take wine from several higher appellations and put them together under a simple Bourgogne Rouge label, which for those in the know, is always labelled ‘Renommée’ or ‘Renamed’. These are exceptional value wines and well worth stockpiling when you see themRemoissenet’s historic cellars below the town of Beaune are host to an amazing collection of historic wines with Premier and Grand Cru wines dating back to the early 20th Century. Vibrant red fruit on the nose with aromas of raspberry, and cranberry and a hint of delicate spice from barrel ageing. A smooth textured wine with excellent concentration and length with fine velvet tannins.
