Celebrating its 50th anniversary this September, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid tells the story of two of the most famous outlaws in history, as they escape America in search of a more successful criminal career. Join us in AVERYS WINE CELLAR for an evening following the pair as they attempt to make their fortune.Following a sparkling wine reception, the film will be accompanied by a tasting of four carefully selected wines that reflect the characters’ escape from America and their adventure to distant lands. In Wyoming at the turn of the century, famous outlaws Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid are the leaders of the infamous Hole In The Wall gang. When an attempted train robbery goes badly wrong, the pair escape to South America, accompanied by Sundance’s lover, Etta. There they attempt to continue their life of crime, expecting to make their fortune. Things do not go according to plan…With the charismatic combination of Paul Newman and Robert Redford, accompanied by a memorable score by Burt Bacharach, this film has earned its title as one of the greatest Westerns of all time, and a defining moment of American cinematic history.
This event is strictly for over 18s. Photographic ID may be required prior to entry. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anybody who is unable to produce appropriate ID. We regret that we are unable to offer refunds to guests refused entry for this reason. Doors for this event will open at 18:45. The film will commence with a short talk at approximately 19:00. The event will conclude at approximately 21:15. Averys wine cellar can be accessed either through the Averys shop (accessed via stairs), or through the side entrance on Frogmore Street. Averys cellar is suitable for disabled access, however we do ask any guests who have accessibility queries or concerns to contact us directly. We remind guests that there are some uneven areas of floor in the cellar. Guests will receive a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, followed by four wines during the film. Water will be available throughout the evening. This film is rated 15 (Contains strong language and moderate sex references) This film will be screened without subtitles.
