The Abruzzo is one of the loveliest regions of Italy. It lies on the central eastern coast, where the sea and the mountains meet. Most Montepulciano from this region is renowned for being deliciously supple and easy drinking, as well as great value. This Riserva shows how the best wines can age magnificently too. Crafted from 100% Montepulciano, hand-picked from vines between 20-40 years old, it is rich and flavoursome. As a Riserva, it must be aged for a minimum of two years – of which six months must be in barrel. This has had much longer in barrel – two years – with extended bottle ageing too. Superb with strong cheeses, truffle or mushroom risotto or with roast meats.
