Yecla is a small wine region in south-east Spain best known for its reds made from the Monastrell grape which flourishes in the region’s fierce climate. However, thanks to the cooling affect in their high altitude vineyards, David Castaño and his team are making some fabulous whites at this pioneering estate in Yecla.Castaño Ecologico Macabeo is made entirely from organically grown Macabeo grapes (also known as Viura, the key grape of white Rioja).Bottled early and with no oak influence to keep the focus on the delicious fresh, pure fruits.A mouth-watering, crisp finish makes this a perfect aperitif but it would also be delicious with light vegetable tapas dishes.. An elegant, restrained nose with a fresh, zippy palate of crunchy green apples and delicate hints of citrus.
