Yecla is one of Spain’s smallest DO’s and is situated in Murcia in south-east Spain. It is best known for its rich, inky Monastrell reds from very old vines up to 100 years old. The Castaño family of Bodegas Castaño have been instrumental in establishing the Yecla DO and building an international reputation for the region’s wines. These wines frequently win awards and score high points from the world’s leading wine critics.Bodegas Castaño is one of our favourite Spanish wineries so when they released this brand new white, we snapped it up immediately An unoaked blend of fresh, floral Moscatel (80%) and crisp Sauvignon Blanc (20%) creating a refreshing, dry and aromatic whiteMoscatel is renowned for its pretty floral aromatics which immediately leap from the glass coupled with herbaceous notes from the Sauvignon Blanc. Delicately honeyed with a really zippy lime character and a tropical, grapefuit and guava finish, it’s a fantastic aperitif and delicious with spicy seafood dishes.
