Cave de Saint Dézery is a terrific small cellar our buyer, Mark Hoddy, recently discovered. It was founded back in 1928 and today has 42 grower members. Most significantly, however, it gained a new head winemaker, Nuria Morales, in 2018. She has a great passion for the region and enthusiasm for its wines. Since Nuria took charge, the cellar has won many awards in competition, too. Nuria champions sustainable methods in the vineyard. The Merlot for this brightly fruity red is from higher altitude vines, grown on pebbly sand and limestone soils. All that translates to gorgeous, silky blackberry and blueberry fruit with no edges. A little bit too moreish for its own good, thinks Nuria! A tasty glass solo, with chicken or veggie kebabs.
