Centaurée Minervois 2011
This organic wine is made up of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache – each being vinified separately in stainless steel tanks to allow the grapes to express their character. Complex aromas of crushed black fruits, black olives and mulberry; full and fleshy but still elegant; spicy, long and sensual.

‘Centaurée’ is named after a rare and protected flower which grows throughout the vineyards. It literally means ‘with a centre of gold’ and our buyers certainly thought they had struck gold when they discovered this treasure.The owners are committed to looking after the environment and, in particular, the rare Centaurée flowers. Consequently, they farm all their vinesorganically and carefully hand-pick all the grapes. Such attention to detail shows in the glass.Smelling this wine, you can almost imagine yourself walking through the countryside in Southern France with its aromas of thyme, rosemary and olives. You will find plenty of fruit here too – dense, dark berries accompanied by a hint of liquorice and chocolate. Blended from 80% Syrah and 20% Carignan, it is big and bold – perfect with game, a rib of beef or full-flavoured casseroles.
