Château Lauzanet 2015

Bordeaux AOC

A Gold medal claret from the superb 2015 vintage. It's from a château in the Entre Deux Mers, not usually known for long aged wines. Here there's lovely intensity, structure and depth. Despite five years age, it's just beginning to show at its best.

With Golds for the 2014 and 2015, owner Patrick Forcato at Château Lauzanet certainly knows how to make the most of his grapes. His family have been winemaking in Bordeaux since the 1950s and Patrick, with wife Florence, have two châteaux they have been bringing up to date since the 1980s. Château Lauzanet lies at the far end of the Entre Deux Mers. Wine Enthusiast praised this particular vintage for its ripeness, firm structure and concentration and recommended it was kept at least until 2018. The Forcatos decided to hold it back for another two years after that and we are the lucky beneficiaries. It's an appealing Merlot rich claret, the fruit now evolved and well integrated with the tannins. Serve with roast meats to show it at its best.

"Ripe and structured, this is a concentrated wine. Its blackberry fruits are powerful and dense" Wine Enthusiast
