Dating back to 1772, this beautiful, grand estate has passed through many noble hands. Bernard Soulas in the early 1980s did much renovation to the vineyards and cellar, but the greater investment was from 1986, when it came into the corporate hands of Société Grands Millésimes, owners too of Saint Julien's Châteaux Beychevelle and Lagrange. Its deep gravel soil vineyards are ideally situated between the two great Haut Médoc communes of Margaux and Saint Julien. No wonder, then, it shows the delicate elegance of the former, with the sleek, textured power of the latter. Its wine always represents excellent value, in part due to the size of its vineyards - 114 hectares. A great wine with intensity, character, length and cellaring potential.
