Since 1931, this 17th century estate has belonged to the Montmousseau family. Today Alexandre is in charge of winemaking and the 20 hectares of vineyard, all dedicated to Chenin Blanc, the holy grail grape in the Anjou part of the Loire. He firmly believes in respecting nature and only guiding in the vineyard and the cellar. He has many different soils within his 20 hectares of mature, 35 year old vines. Some are planted on prized clay limestone, others on siliceous clay, each parcel vinified separately, so that careful blending can take place later in the year. Pure Chenin Blanc, gently vinified, aged on its lees with batonnage, this is an intense white with ripe apple and floral notes and a touch of honeyed lemon. Ideal with chicken.
