Château Laroque 2019

Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe AOC

With 95-97 points from Wine Advocate, Château Laroque is clear evidence that 2019 "richly deserves a place in the pantheon of the greats" (Drinks Business). Aged in new oak barrels for a year, Laroque has deeply seductive, velvety fruit and length.

Château Laroque is a very grand and beautiful property with some of Saint-Emilion's finest terroir. With 61 hectares of vineyards, it's holdings are considerable but selection is so rigorous that less than half of them are used for the Grand Vin. And every year, quality seems to take another step up. Wine Advocate described the 2019 as "filled with dark, seductive berry layers and a whole myriad of savory nuances, framed by wonderfully soft, velvety tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long and perfumed. Beautiful!" The wine is rewarding already, but has huge potential in the (many) years to come. Ageing is both en barriques and in larger French and Austrian (unusual) barrels, part new, to lend firm tannins and vanilla oak spice.
