Château Marguerite Fronton Rosé 2021

Fronton AOP

Provence is well known for delicate pinks, but Fronton in southwest France also excels with ravishing rosés. This 2021 is a beautiful Négrette pink, a speciality grape of the region, championed by winemaker Pascal Nacenta. Bright and lemony crisp.

Continue southwest from Bordeaux, past Toulouse and you reach Fronton, an ancient wine region many have forgotten. It produces a range of truly authentic southern French wines, some using little known native grapes like Négrette. This variety is susceptible to mildew, so it doesn't travel well and is grown hardly anywhere else in France. Shame as its red wines are delightfully silky and gulpable and its rosés, pure delight. Taste here lots of crunchy redcurrant fruit and lemony freshness. As Pascal Nacenta says “we are fortunate enough to have a grape variety that is unique in the world, making Fronton wines truly one of a kind". Enjoy as a refreshing glass solo or with tofu, spinach and noodles, seafood or marinaded chicken kebabs.
