The beautifully restored, medieval Château de Francs has been the pet project of friends Hubert de Boüard of Château L'Angélus and Dominique Hébrard, formerly of Château Cheval Blanc, since the 1980s. With such illustrious backgrounds, it was perhaps surprising that the two decided to invest in little known Côtes de Francs. It's Bordeaux’s smallest and sunniest appellation and lies north of Castillon and east of Lussac. But it has proved a propitious move. Made mostly from hand harvested Merlot from the estate's oldest vineyards, Les Cerisiers will seduce you with gorgeous aromas of blackberry, plum, crème de cassis and violet. It’s intense with ripe, concentrated fruit, particularly well focussed in the exceptional 2020 vintage.
