Château Haut Couloumey is located in Lesparre-Médoc, a commune at the north of the Médoc peninsula not far from Saint-Éstephe. It’s a small estate of just five hectares on clay and gravel soils, run by Pascal Sallenave and his wife Christine.
The 2014 Cuvée Prestige is a blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.
The high percentage of Merlot for the Médoc makes this a very velvety Médoc, whilst barrel ageing adds complexity and spice
It’s no surprise to us that this was also awarded a gold medal by the Gilbert and Gaillard Guide
Tasting note:On the nose, rich, dark, herbal fruits leap from the glass while the palate is supple, generous and full-bodied. The rich fruits are complemented by notes of warm leather and spice on the lingering finish.
